Problems when learning vocabulary?

What comes to your mind when you think about vocabulary? Never-ending lists and lists of words and meanings you have to learn hitting the books and these lists can be about anything: phrasal and irregular verbs, adjectives, prepositions, nouns… Then, it is understandable you think English is very complicated and don´t want to learn it or just quit too soon.

But when everything can be done in a really easy way, then there is light at the end of the tunnel. And this is what we have to try to find in our learning path.

Find something you may find funny to remember vocabulary. For example, many years ago there was an ad from a telecommunication company in which a foreign and famous football player had all the house full with post-its to remember words. Please do not re-decorate your house in that way, but it is something really useful to see words very often than studying everything at one time.

Another idea could be to use cards. You can prepare them with words on one side, and on the other: pronunciation, an example to remember the meaning, synonyms or the meaning itself. If you go to work by public transport, you can easily have a look to all of them in a while and practise it super fast. Maybe having a pack of cards is not ideal, but you can take a photo of all of them and have them in any device you use to have a look at any time during the day.

What do you think about this idea? Do you think it is useful? I hope so.
