Final Chapter of Ghost from the North
“Where are you going?” Isabel heard behind her. Isabel turned around fast. For a moment she thought she was looking at the boy from the photograph she found.
As her eyes adjusted to the dark, she realized she was staring at Leo.
“Leo?!” She whisper-screamed. “What are you doing here?! You are going to get us in trouble.” Leo did not seem phased. “I wanted to ask if you were up for some exploring.”
Maybe it was the adrenaline rush or just to take her mind off of how scared she just was, but she replied with a quick nod of the head.
She heard a noise back towards her room. “Did you hear that?!” Isabel asked almost to herself. She walked back down the hallway with Leo behind her.
And there he was. The boy from the photograph. She was staring a real ghost!
“I was hoping I would be able to finally meet you.” Leo said. “I’ve heard about you all my life.”
Isabel was confused.
“Isabel, allow me to introduce you to my ancestor, William.”
“Nii..ni...nice to meet you,” Isabel stuttered out an automatic polite response. Immediately afterwards, Isabel whipped her head towards Leo for an explanation.
“When I found out about the archaeological excavation, I thought it would be a perfect way to connect with my family’s past.” And then Leo addressed William as if the explanation he gave to Isabel was sufficient.
“What happened all those years ago?”
