I'd like to say I became a teacher because I was so passionate about teaching but that's not quite how it happened.
I'd always sung and was involved in music bands all my childhood. I wasn't as academic as some of the boys and girls who were going to school with me so no one ever told me I was bright and somehow at school, I always felt I was the poor relation but this experience ignited my passion to support and encourage students in the businesses and academies I have taught in later.
Getting my own musical satisfaction has always been important for me and I think it has helped my teaching because a good teacher and a good musician must have:
- Dedication
- Willingness to travel to various locations to perform
- Disciplined approach to practising and learning
- Sociable nature
- Business sense
- Lack of nerves
- Good stage manner and ability to interact with audience
- Good networking skills
And never hold back! My passion is working with students who are struggling academically. I tutor a group of first-graders once a week in reading and writing. I love helping students make connections in subjects they struggle with. Are you ready to rock with me?
