A Trip to the Supermarket
Going to the supermarket can be fun and easy! Let’s learn some words and phrases to help you when you visit the supermarket.
Before you go to the supermarket, write down what you need to buy from the supermarket. This is called a shopping list. Here are a few examples of what can be on your shopping list:
When you arrive at the supermarket, you can take a trolley (a cart) or a basket. You use these to carry your groceries. If you have a lot to buy, take a trolley. If you only need a few items, a basket is better. You will then go into the supermarket to start shopping with your shopping list.
Look for the signs in the supermarket to find what you need.
There will be different signs by each asile that you enter.
Some of the signs will include the following:
Ask someone who works at the supermarket for help if you cannot find something.
You can say, “Excuse me, where is the bread?” or “Can you help me find the milk?”
When you have everything on your shopping list then it’s time to pay. Go to the checkout or till where you will pay. The cashier will scan your items, and you will pay. You can pay with cash or a card. Don't forget to tae your reciept.
After paying, pack your items into shopping bags. Don’t forget your receipt! A receipt is a paper that shows what you bought and how much you paid.
Rememebr, when packing your bags to put the items that can be squished, example bread, on top so that the other items dont ruin it.
Now you can go home and enjoy your groceries!
