Does a student want to make mistakes? Noooo...
What I am most concerned about when entering a classroom, is the student’s needs. The function of a teacher is to solve a student’s problem – which of course is to learn English. I am teaching English to students in cafés, bars, at homes and in businesses in Madrid. What I have learned from all my students is that they all want to be corrected.
When entering a class, the teacher should never feel uncomfortable or unsure about the job, just say to a student straight up what there is to work on, and how we can fix it. After this is done everyone are happy!

So what are the three main points when correcting students in English?
1. Don’t hesitate
2. Be honest
3. Encourage
When I say ‘don’t hesitate’ I mean that it is no point in entering the class with an unsure mindset. The student wants to be led and is expected to get directions from the teacher.
Being honest is number 1 key when beginning as a teacher. Don’t make lying a habit when working.
Even though the student wants to be corrected, it is always important to keep the student motivated.
In conclusion, I have to say that when I am having a Spanish class (true story) I WANT to be corrected and to improve my language skills. Even though one may seem a bit rude when correcting students all the time, it is more of a compliment than to just let the student make mistakes all the time.
Have a wonderful day everyone,
hasta luego!
