ROYALS- LORDE cover
Royals won two Grammy awards; Best Pop Solo Performance and Song of the Year in 2014.
Lorde's debut album came out in 2013 and was nomitated for Grammy as Best album of the year. The album got a lot of "attention for its portrayal of suburban teenage disillusionment and critiques of mainstream culture."
Why do we love the song that much?
The lyrics are a big part of the reason. The description of the most common popular songs she gives is quite accurate. Many pop songs show off the luxary of being extremely wealthy. Herself, on the contrary, is quite happy where she is (or was at the time when she wrote the lyrics. Con you belivieve she was just 16 when she wrote the song?).
In the Chorus she speaks about that, she will never be Royalty, and that it's okay. She's not longing to be. She is fine with just dreaming of it.
I believe many of us resonate with the song because of the message. Money is important, but there are much more important things than money. Things that money cannot buy.
